Recording the Night Sky using a Phenology Wheel

Recording the Night Sky using a Phenology Wheel

Instructor:  Laurie Kathleen Clark of HEARTITUDE=ART+SOUL

What You'll Learn:  During this class, students will learn to make interactive sketchbook pages and a phenology wheel. A sketchbook is a private space for nature journalists to freely record observations with no judgement. Why not make it fun and interactive? We will explore elevating your layouts with engaging elements, including the use of a phenology wheel.

What is a phenology wheel? It's nature's calendar, an outstanding tool to visually organize the seasons, natural rhythms, and cycles around you—like charting the night sky.

Skill Level/Age Range:  Beginner to Intermediate/ 13+

Student Instructions:  This class will include links to two easy-to-follow demonstration and instructional videos (one hour total) about ways to observe and record night skies. The same information will be covered in the in-person class, but students may want to review once the class is over.

Materials Needed:  All materials will be supplied by the instructor, including a 100 page sketchbook to use during class, and take home to record additional observations.
