A Christmas Carol
Valley Center Stage’s beloved annual tradition returns with a new production of A Christmas Carol. Ebenezer Scrooge is a businessman whose lonely Christmas is invaded by a series of encounters that force him to examine his life. Join us for our celebration of Charles Dickens’ timely and timeless tale about choices and connections, character and community, and ghosts.
Dustin Trabert, director and adapter, said this about the production, “A Christmas Carol is one of our most inescapable stories. Despite all the cheerful carols and the festive parties and the simple, beautiful spirit of generosity expressed by Tiny Tim, Scrooge’s journey, a dark night of the soul on one of the longest, coldest nights of the year, is not a comforting one. But I find it exciting and a profound expression of hope to watch Scrooge be confronted with how he’s lived and shut himself off from his community, and to then make the choice to live better and be better. I think there’s probably a bit of Scrooge in all of us; and that’s what keeps us coming back to this story year after year.”
Tim Platt, who returns to play Ebenezer Scrooge, said, “I’m really thrilled about this new adaptation. It adds depth and color to the main characters and incorporates elements of Dicken's other works to give the story a whole new fresh take, while staying true to the original.”
